The Vittoriale Museum is situated on the southern coast of Lake Garda in the town of Maderno on the Gardone Riviera and was built by Gabriele D’Annunzio, an Italian Nationalist. The museums unusual charms can be perceived from the collection which includes lots of books, devotional paintings, sculptures, embellishments and decoratives, which he gathered throughout his lifetime, one of the eye catching objects is the stuffed gilded tortoise.
The walls of the museum are beautifully adorned with poet’s mottos, outside the museum is an open air theatre, a grand tomb, the motor torpedo boat and the corvette battleship Puglia’s beautiful prow ploughing into the ground, and some vintage cars.
